Edencraft 233 Formula "Sea Trails"

Hi All

Well the day finally came to sea trail my new EdenCraft 233 Formula.  A little background first.  I took a slightly different track with my 233, instead of the normall twin engine setup I choose a single Yamaha 350.  Along with the massive V-8  I asked the fine folks at Edencraft to "Notch" my transom which equate to a better flow of water to the engine with less drag.

Test was done with 2 adults in the boat and 550 liters of fuel aboard.  I have 3 AGM batteries in the rear and a Stainless Steel Large "X Winch" up forward.  Wind was blowing 12-15kts. Propeller is 16.5" X 19" 4 Blade PowerTech.

Top speed was 48 kts or (92 Km/h, 55 Mph) at 5500 rpms.  The boat just purred along at 30 Kts which was 3600 rpm while burning 60 liters per hour.

Very happy with the notch, while the boat was running at planning speed no spray and it left a very clean wake.

Great looking set up there!!! I am interested in the bunks on the trailer,any info you can share about them would be appreciated as  I am in the process of building up a trailer for mine.

Hi Doug

The trailer was built by Float On Corporation in Florida.  Those bunks are pattened to Float On.  As you can see they are extruded aluminum that tilt to any deadrise.

Contact Tim at Float On as I not sure if they sell them.

Sure no worries on the pics.  This time I just wanted to find out about the notch and motor height.  The SeaStar Tournement Cylinder developed a rubbing noise and now SeaStar wants it back for testing they are sending me another out. 

As you can see my boat is pretty "barebones" compared to yours I would imagine your rig is quite a bit heavier than mine.  Mine will slow down when we start adding "Bits and Bobs".  Really I only care about that 30-36 kts speed.  I love the fact that at 30 kts you can walk around the boat and have a conversation without shouting or hanging on for dear life.

Hi Henry

The notch design is 36" (900mm) wide X 8" (200mm) high off centerline X 10" (250mm) deep or into the hull.  Make sure all corners have a good radius.  

I mounted my engine at  minus 3" (75mm) above the keel.

hi rick great to see her finished and aren't those Yamaha outboards great?? i like the step in the hull and the engine height advantage. have you got any side on photos of the hull??

You mean of the notch or in the water??  We are still waiting to take some water photo's but they will be coming soon.  If you want a side profile of the notch than no problem.

PS:  Yes I love my Yamaha, she is not even breathing hard pushing 3 tons around !
