Formula 233 Registry

The premier site for owners of the famous 233.

I am restoring my grandfather's 1973 233. Does anyone know of a good source to get the white fur that was used on the cuddy cabin walls and ceiling?

Don't do it. I have taken out damp moldy smelly bug hiding white fur. While these boats are great blue water boats they have limited resale value. People have spent tens of thousands of dollars restoring these boats only to discover that they can't sell the boat for anything close to what they have put in them. Seawarthy and properly equipped first followed by shiny and pretty. Make it safe and dependable and use it. You will love the boat and when it is time to sell it you wont take a beating financially.
Ps.
I have owned four of these over the years. I have seen lots of restoring owners try and get back the thirty fourty or more thousand dollars. Most people only see old boat. A boat I looked at in Florida was a beautifully fifty thousand dollar restoration project. He used the boat for close to ten years. Kept it in dry storage on a rack all its life with him. He started at 45 and over a year and a half of trying to sell it ended up letting it go for 12 thousand. I could go on and on. Best of luck on your project.

I just spent days pulling that junk out. Why on earth would you want to keep it? It was a bad idea then and it's a bad idea now. Mine even has monkey fur in the anchor locker. It was a soggy mess. What were they thinking?
