I have a 1969 that needs a lot of work to the hull. I’ve come across a 1970 that has a nice hull but the hull cap is junk. The hull caps appear to be similar in size and design but the helm is different. My question is: Can I just swap the hull caps and how difficult is that to do?

Another F233 LS bites the dust.

We had a tornado in our neighborhood a week ago. Unfortunately a 70' tree landed on my '82 F-233 LS. The boat was crushed, so I am looking for a hull or a stripped down 233 LS. I have salvaged my engine, out drive and all major components from my boat and hope to put one together.

If anyone on this forum has a hull, or knows where I might find a stripped down 233 LS please let me know. I live at Grand Lake Ok and willing to…

Has anyone come across the stringy/straw like material in between the hull and the hull liner? I recently cut my deck out, and saw some of this material. I was wondering if anyone knows what it is. It is certainly non-structural, and seems like they might have layed it in for sound dampening.

Any ideas?

I'm hoping somebody here can help me to identify the year of this Formula 233. The HIN and title both say 1978 but it looks to be a late 60's boat.

I have a 233 windshield, free to a good home. It has forward vents in the side glass (one had broken and replaced with plexiglass) and no vents in the front windshield. Thought I was going to use it for a 233 project, but that never happened. Located near Deltaville, VA, one hr east of Richmond. Also have a home built fiberglass/foam motor cover (no wood) also free to a good home.

Here is my tail: I bought a 1978 233 center console. The fact that CC is a little rare attracted me.

Hull was fine, I was told it may need new engine mount. I had the engine checked by a GOOD marine mechanic. He gives me " it is old but seems to have some live".... I pull the engine, fix the mounts, I think I am good to go.

Nope!

Engine essentially blows in about 10 hours. I made it to the dock and that was with some luck.

Same mechanic (whom I trust)…

Same mechanic (whom I trust) does a search, gets me a NEW (rebuilt but with a great warranty) engine. $2500. + $500 to install. I am sitting there thinking a 250 HP outboard would cost me $10K +++.

Why did I even slow down and just get the new motor when I pulled to fix the mounts? The double remove & reinstall probably cost me $1000.

My stupidity is your gain. If you pulling one (or two) engines …. and you are not positive about the life left in them …. do some research and think about a replacement. It is fairly cheap relative to the new OB.

My new engine is quiet, runs cold and fast. Going back on my mooring in Buzzard's Bay this weekend.

Hello everyone. I'm looking at 2 mid - late 70's 233 Formulas. one has a 351 bored to 408 ci. And the other has 2 4 cyl. engines. Excluding outboard engines, what do most 233 owners prefer. 1 8 cly. engine, or 2 4 cyl engines ?

Thanks, John Hedlund
