Formula 233 Registry

The premier site for owners of the famous 233.

Adopted this project boat for free. The cap comes from a different boat as well as an 04 built 114 gallon fuel tank. Boat is solid and in great shape except for the stringers by the fuel tank. Also the transom while not having rotted wood has delaminated. Looks like it used to have dual outdrives, and then switched to single. So much underdeck space being wasted on this boat. I have tons of ideas. But the first steps are pull the deck and then fix the transom and stringers. Also need to recore the cap but that may sit on the shelf as I may do some mods to the bow area. Right now the plan is to bracket the boat and move my 150 etecs from the mako over.  I am thinking a dog house on the console and a big in deck livewell. I will close in the transom area for a big above deck fishbox.

Had a bunch of other pics but I was using a new camera and somehow lost them on the software install.

Deck is out. Foam next. There is some water against the hull trapped in the foam. Dont like the stringer layout since it does not allow for in deck fish boxes like my Mako. The stringers are solid as a rock except for where the fuel tank was. Don't really want to start changing things around. Maybe I will go with all above deck boxes. A nice coffin in front of the console. A box on the transom. Still want the livewell below deck though.

Good morning Keith,

Nice project you have here.  I have been tied up with "Work" and have not been able to visit the forum during the past few weeks.  It looks like you have made some good headway with this Formula (And the price was perfect too!).

When I saw the picture of the shovel jammed into the foam, it reminded me of my own project!

Keep up the good work and please keep us informed with updates and photographs.

TY Todd.

Foam is out. Bulkheads and inner transom skin also gone. 15 large bags of foam total. All stringers have rot in areas and are going to be removed. I am going to do a foam filled grid type stringer system. This will let me design the indeck boxes the way I want. Right now the plan is to get the wood in the transom out tommorrow and get her covered for the rest of the winter. Here is a shot of the center console. It is huge and will get some major changes.
