Where did you get the top?

What kind of performace have you seen from your engine/outdrive replacement?  I am looking to do a Bravo one X or XR conversion and build a 383 stroker but cannot find any firms that remanufactuer and sell complete outdrives.

Hi Eric, i collected some ideas, made some adjustments and gave the work to a local boat builder, who carried out the fabrication. cost me arround 2000$.

So far the boat wasn't in the water yet, get some paint work done currently. hope to be back in the water in 2-3 weeks. hope it will do 42 - 45 knots. already searching for a 502mpi or hp 500.

did most of mechanical work by myself. took the special tools from the local mercruiser dealer. downloaded the manual...

Your speed requirement sounds doable.  There is a guy on you tube that built a 383 in a 1984 F3LS, which is lighter than your boat, that claims he his 57mph or 49 knots.

I'm hoping to build a naturally aspired 383 with 390hp for under $6000.  My fully dressed 350 should weigh close to 500 pounds and a 454 weighs in around 650 pounds.  So with the weight to power ratio and the fact 350 parts are easy to come by and cheap that's how I came up with my decision.  I may be in your neck of the woods within the next year hopefully I can see yours in person, love the yellow.  Did you have to bottom painted or did you choose to have the gel coat resprayed?

The things are here a bit cheaper, alot of people convert their beautifull sterndrive boats to outboards and the parts are sold quiet reasonable, so i paid for the complete engine and drive package 2500$ or so. it was in running condition but did the overhaul to be on the safe side. to reduce the bb weight i installed the stainless marine system. also want to remove my heavi fiber swim platform and replace it with an self made teak platform...

in progress to remove all old anti fouling and then spray it plain white, it's always sitting on the trailer no need for anti fouling.

I just restored a 1977 Larson runabout before purchasing my Formula and my research lead me to believe any kind of paint other than antifouling would blister if left in the water for more than 4-5 days.  That said I was planning on having the gel coat resprayed on my hull once I repair the few scratches and cracks I have.
