Hi Dave, I also run a volvo diesel ( kad 42    230 hp ). Have you run yours yet? If so , what 's the fuel economy like?  Are u happy with the set up?  Steve

I burn about 2.5 to 3 gallons per hour @ trolling speed 7-8 knots. Yes I like diesel better then gas, more dependable especially in the ocean out far. Prefer it more than outboards.

Thanks Dave; I burn 8.5 gallons @ 25 knots. Not the fastest 233, but I find that speed is ok in most sea conditions. I changed props after I purchased; wasn't getting max revs. Used Korean made solas branded alloy props. Cost 850 aud here. Have run them for 200 hours over Xmas with good results.
How about posting some more pics when your project is finished. I'm keen to see the boat in the islands. It's winter here and I forget what summer was like!

I have A4 props on my boat which seems to work the best. The boat is pretty fast also but I'm not into racing just into fishing here in Hawaii. We mostly troll for marlin, yellow fin tuna, mahimahi, and ono(wahoo). I will send pictures once I'm done. This boat had a lot of work to do when I got it but I am taking my time to make it the way I want too. Also trying to save money by doing the work myself so it takes even longer.  I will send you some pictures later of the fishing boats here in Hawaii. The water can get nasty so you really need a good hull that can handle. I'd like to see what kind of fish you catch in Australia,
