Here is a pic of the Notch in the transom.  Not sure if this is the first 233 to have such but I am willing to try it and will let everyone know the results!

Hi Rick, hope all is well. I am interested to learn more about the notch. What can you tell us about it? Regards, Spiro

Hi Spiro

The notch is designed to provide better performance and stability while running.  It also provides you wih the ability to raise your engine height for less drag but still providing clean water for your prop to run it.  Normally the Formula would have a 30" engine if running a single or twin 25" motors.  With the notch I can run a 25" single motor which I would prefer instead of jacking up a 30" motor and raising the center of gravity.

Many boats mfg in the US run hulls which are notched, step or have pads some run all three. My intial interest in the notch stemmed from using the boat in shallow water the performance aspect is just a bonus.

Alan should have her done by the end of the month so sea trail are still scheduled for June.  Only time will tell now! :)

Cheers Rick

Hi Rick, thanks for the explanation.

I can also see that the notch would effectively place the prop is clearer water, thereby minimising slip and increasing overall efficiency.

Back in the day it was not uncommon for people to fit set-back brackets on to the transoms of their performance boats. These were later replaced by either fixed or adjustable jacking plates.

I think the notch is a great idea and hope it works as well as Alan expects it to.

Regards,

Spiro

Hi David

I think it is a nice trailer!  Float-On from the US.  Of course it is a race at this point to see which will arrive first boat or trailer.  Sure hope it the trailer! Here is a pic of what the trailer looks like.  The I-Beams are 8" (200mm) and the axles are torsion.

Yes it is pretty easy!

Many folks will tell you US trailer won't comply with AU Standards but that is false.  Float-on actually makes trailers for AU roads that meet all standards.  Really the only difference is the braking system and an extra wire for  reversing lights.  America and Australia even use the same VIN number index.

My cost on the trailer was $7800 and shipping was another $3800.  Hardest thing is actually aplying for a Trailer Import Permit but once you get that your home free.

Dave let me know if and when your in the market and I will be glad to help.

Cheers Rick

that is one sexy hull. just pure bad ass boat all the way.

Congrats!

Here some more pics!

Wow, that certainly has progressed a long way since I last saw it. The improvement in finish from the new molds is so apparent. Looks great Rick.

nothing like a black hull. although mine is white I still love the black. will this boat have a sea bracket for the out boards or motor well?  just curious to the effect on the notch putting a bracket on the transom.

No bracket for mine the V-8 sits on the transom.

Cheers Rick

Hi David

As much as I would like to I am trying to stay within my budget.  My budget is only half of what yours was!  Getting tight now, real tight :)

I only have one chartplotter/depths sounder combo unit.  Going to install a Garmin 6212 with the new digital 1K sounder.  Besides that all I have is a Garmin Auto-Pilot.  Alan is going to make a electronic console to flush mount the Garmin.

I fly down to do the final inspection on the 20th of April then we will ship it up here.

Cheers Rick
